Cherry Blossom Time
The cherry blossom blooming period is a relatively brief window–a week or two, really–when they go from just buds to beautiful flowers to falling off and being replaced by green leaves. March 8, the NPS revised its 2016 peak bloom forecast to March 18-23. Their initial forecast, issued March 2, was for peak bloom to fall sometime during the period March 31 to April 3. The majority of blossoms are located near the Tidal Basin and along the shoreline of East Potomac Park, extending all the way to Hains Point. Meanwhile, small clusters of trees can be found along the National Mall, just northwest of the Lincoln Memorial and around the Washington Monument.
Below are pics from the 2013 Cherry Blossoms which were taken mid April....we had a cold Jan/Feb and I didn't really know alot about photography (only in school for 6 months) I am looking foward to some great new pics this time around ! Stay tuned
